in my new Dodge Charger... in TorRed. I am such an attention whore. Can't wait to get to the first oil change so I can go faster than 80km per hour... I have to keep it down. The highways here are between 100km and 120km... waaaaaa

And the damn AC in the car decides to pack up. It's getting really hot and humid in Oman at the moment. I hate it when I have to go somewhere. Just got back from a two-week vacation in the UAE. Visited a lot of places, including Ski Dubai at the Mall of The Emirates, the Sharjah Aquarium and of course IKEA. Got lost on the way there (no GPS yet eh) but managed to find our way and get to where we were going to stay. It was a lot of fun. The kids had a blast of a time. Lived in Sharjah for a week then another week was spent in Abu Dhabi. Then we got back. To warm, hot, humid, clean, dust-free Oman. Where parking is easy, the roads are nice and is less crowded than the Emirates. We were so glad to be back home.

BOOK DESIGNER

Responsibilities:
- overall layout concept
- concept execution
- coordination with author, editor, proof-reader and retoucher
- pre-press production
- print supervision

Requirements
- passion for publications (book) design
- a minimum of two years of publications design experience
- a portfolio with impressive publications design samples
- expert knowledge of AdobeInDesign© and/or QuarkXpress©
- above-intermediate knowledge of AdobePhotoshop© and AdobeIllustrator©
- above-average speaking, reading and writing skills in English
- knowledge of Arabic advantageous


RETOUCHER

Responsibilities:
- scan, retouch and optimise images to perfection
- coordination with book designer, author and editor
- pre-press production
- print supervision

Requirements
- a minimum of three years of retouching experience
- expert knowledge of AdobePhotoshop© and scanning technology
- a portfolio indicative of strong retouching skills and a keen eye for detail
- intermediate speaking, reading and writing skills in English
